  • Contains a balanced mixture of all other essential and non-essential amino acids, carbohydrates, and select vitamins, minerals, and trace elements
  • Unflavored powder
  • MSUD Aid provides 60g of protein equivalent per 100g of powder.
  • Does not contain fat thereby allowing for greater flexibility in modifying energy.

Indications:

  • Maple Syrup Urine Disease

Directions for Preparation and Use:

  • MSUD Aid must be consumed in conjunction with natural protein, fluid and other nutrients in quantities prescribed by a physician or dietitian to meet isoleucine, leucine, valine and general nutrition requirements.
  • MSUD Aid intake will vary depending on the age, bodyweight and medical condition of the individual.  Intake is adjusted to maintain normal growth and development.  100g of MSUD Aid provides 60g of protein equivalent.  For accuracy, MSUD Aid should be weighed on a gram scale.
  • MSUD Aid is best served as a chilled drink with meals.  Make a paste of the prescribed amount of powder with a small volume of water.  Gradually add sufficient water to yield the prescribed volume.  It is recommended that MSUD Aid be reconstituted at a 1 to 7 dilution (e.g. 50g of MSUD Aid and 350ml of water) and advanced to a 1 to 5 dilution (e.g. 50g of MSUD Aid and 250ml of water).  These dilutions are guidelines only.  MSUD Aid may be given in a more concentrated form i.e. drink or paste; water or diluted drinks should be offered at the same time.
  • Reconstituted drink mix should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 24 hours.

Precaution:

  • Must only be used under strict medical supervision.  Not intended for use as the sole source of nutrition.  Not recommended for infants under 1 year of age.  Not for parenteral use.  Not suitable for metabolic disorders other than MSUD or as a supplement for individuals who do not have MSUD.
  • This product must be supplemented with natural protein and other nutrients in medically prescribed quantities to supply the leucine, isoleucine, valine, and general nutrition requirements of the patient.

Storage:

  • Store unopened can at room temperature. Do not store at extreme temperatures. Once opened, reseal can and store in a cool, dry place (not in refrigerator) and use within one month.
